Many shops have been burnt in Bangabazar
The fire service has said that the fire has come under control six and a half hours after the fire broke out in Bangbazar, one of the main cloth markets in Bangladesh.
Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Mohammad Main Uddin said in a press conference that the fire was brought under control around 12:30 PM.
However, it will take a few more hours to completely extinguish the fire, he said.
Mr. Main Uddin said, "The fire is under control. The fire will not spread further. It will take time to put it out."
48 units of fire service worked to bring this fire under control. Besides, more than two hundred army personnel worked. BGB, Police, WASA also worked together to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. An investigation committee of 5 members will be formed to find out about this. The amount of damage caused by the fire can be said only after a complete investigation.
Eight fire service personnel were injured while bringing the fire under control. The condition of two of them is critical. They are admitted in the burn unit of the hospital.
